Don't you just love it when you find a band who can say everything you've ever wanted to, just completely effortlessly and so articulately? I could not be any more in love with Cocorosie at this very moment; I love finding artists who literally make your stomach flip and your senses shift because they are THAT intense, that beautiful. Lyrically, I haven't found anything that surpasses them for a long time.

That was completely random, sorry! I clearly need to get back into blogging before I start cluttering this place up with all the shite that spills out of my brain from time to time. I actually started to write this entry to say a huge great Happy New Year to anyone who might come across it; mine started amazingly and I intend to keep it that way. I intend, especially, to take everything I experienced in 2007 and use it to be a stronger person. 2007 was not a great one for me, to say the least, and I'm currently in the process of removing from my life every trace of what made me suffer last year... but like the Ancient Greeks knew, every experience of suffering gives you wisdom for the future ... pathein mathein, kids.

I'm concentrating now on being myself again. Last year I lost myself, to not sound too hopelessly pretentious, because I was so busy trying to fix someone who was beyond repair that my heart became completely wrapped up in it. It was unhealthy.... and the person in question didn't care for me back, which I realised far too late. And as a result, I was hurt more than I ever thought was possible. So I'm now getting my life back; learning to appreciate what I took for granted, like the friends who have shown me endless loyalty and affection, the music that soundtracks my life and makes me who I am, the time to just sit back and enjoy the time I have to myself, not having to worry about anyone else's shit, and being able to smile.

And I need to draw and paint more, god! I'd forgotten just how much I love it, and I really miss it. Photography's one thing but it doesn't give me nearly the same amount of satisfaction as being able to craft something from scratch and enjoy the process as much as enjoying the end result.

I might be taking a short break from DA (see that bit about removing certain things from my life... I do like this site but it has negative connections). But I will be back at some point, hopefully with some half decent artwork to upload; I'm currently working on a portrait of Zach Braff, for example, because I love him a ridiculous amount.

And I actually have some New Years resolutions for once! Just so I've documented them somewhere;

- WORK HARDER.
- Stop biting your nails or at least attempt to!
- Do not put up with people treating you like shit; this is a big one! Don't befriend complete wankers, too, and in particular, be careful who you trust.

Oh, and;
- If someone decides to just leave your life, let them go, regardless of what you might think of their decision. In the end, they'll be the one regretting it. This is what I'm doing now, no more fucking around; if people turn their backs on me, then I'm walking a million miles in the opposite direction. And let that be my advice to you, whoever you are that's reading this! See that first line in this entry again...

Have decided I really need to start using my Deviantart for things of actual quality rather than just a few random photographs I thought I might as well shove together. It's a muchly annoying thing that I have photos of pretty amazing views - Kenya - but that the photos themselves are reeeeally nasty, grainy quality. Sigh; time to get an SLR methinks, and abuse that instead. (Not that I can guarantee the quality will be any better, but shh!)

Meanwhile I have lots of sketches, paintings and pages of art journals to upload, if I can actually get my arse round to putting them up. Or, er, finishing most of them.

I was thinking of uploading a couple of photos from a project I started at the beginning of this year; a blog called 365kisses. The general idea was to give/receive/find etc a kiss in some shape or form for every day of 2007, and take a photograph documenting it. Sadly, I think I managed about a month before the idea went to pot... see earlier sentiments about crappy camera and getting my arse round to doing things. Might see if I can apply the idea to 2008, but it's kind of a mammoth task.
